Youth Soccer Support Needed: Parks Board Proposes New Artificial Turf Fields.

Vancouver Parks Board has initiated a program to add a new artificial turf field to Vancouver!  

At this time, we anticipate the City to select one field of the three short listed sites, following public input on support:

• Clinton Park
• Beaconsfield; or
• Churchill

In addition, the City is seeking public input on adding lights to the existing small sided artificial turf field at Hillcrest which would provide additional playing time, post 5PM across the winter.

We encourage our membership to support these initiatives by both filling out the online survey (link below) and attending one of the key open houses for fields within our primary catchment (Clinton Park and Beaconsfield).  In particular, we encourage you to RSVP and attend the open houses for Clinton Park (Tue 20 Nov) and Beaconsfield (Sun 25 Nov) to support the citing of a new artificial turf field and to add lights to the existing Hillcrest Field (Mon 19 Nov). If you can only make one event, you can most certainly express your support for all the sites at the meeting.

This is an exciting opportunity to increase the amount of useable field space for practices, development, and regulation games across our wet winter nights (and warm summer evenings). Please make an effort to let the Parks Board know how much we support these initiatives.  The more they hear from youth soccer, the easier it will be for Parks Board to affirm general public support and make a decision.
