When does the Fall Season start?

Thursday, July 31, 2014

Younger teams will start in mid September with the older (U12 and up) starting right after Labour Day. U8 to U10 teams usually start the first full week AFTER school starts. U6/U7 usually start the third weekend of September.

The Fall Soccer season is starting soon, when will I hear from my coach?

Thursday, July 31, 2014

Depending on your player's age group, your volunteer Coach should be contacting you in the first few weeks of September.

The U12 and older teams start playing earlier so practices start the first week of September.

U8 - U11 usually start the second full week of September.

The Minis (U6 - U7) have a kick off all together. It is usually the 3rd Saturday in September but we recommend checking the event calendar on the website.

Please remember that we are often still looking for coaches for some teams, especially the younger age groups and also that many people are away on holidays during August.

When do I get my game schedule?

Thursday, July 31, 2014

Your coach will supply you with your game schedule typically the week before the season starts; you will also be able to check your schedule on your team's website at kysa.ca

Please remember that schedule are always subject to change and each Saturday's game is only confirmed the Tuesday prior. While changes are not frequent, they do happen so please plan accordingly.
For interlocking games (games versus other local clubs), there are many different people from other clubs responsible for making up the schedules and they are not always ready at the same time. For the in-house mini’s, we may not know how many teams we can field until close to season start; it is dependent on finding enough volunteer coaches.

If you have passion and skill in soccer and would like to volunteer your time to help teach kids, please send your resume detailing the soccer/training experience to our Coaches Coordinator.

How many practices/games are there?

Thursday, July 31, 2014

Practices are based on availability of the fields at Killarney between 5-9pm Monday to Friday.

Practice schedules are dependent on age and your coach but will be similar to the following:

Ages 4-6
One practice and one game per week. In the winter practice will be in the gym. All games will be at Killarney Oval

Age 7-9
One practice and one game per week. In the winter practice will be in the gym. Games will be at the oval and at other local clubs.

Ages 9+
Two practices usually M/W or Tu/Th and one game per week.

Age11+
Up to the coach but usually 2 practices per week. Games will be once per week

What equipment do I need? Do I get to keep my jersey?

Thursday, July 31, 2014

Every player must have soccer cleats and shin pads. Local sporting goods stores often have package deals in late summer and early fall so keep checking the flyers.

The club will supply you a jersey, shorts and socks for game day. We recommend you have extra socks and other clothing to keep the game gear in good condition.

At the end of the season the jersey must be returned. The socks and shorts are yours to keep.

If you do not return the jersey at the end of the season your credit card will be automatically charged $50.

We do want to get all the jerseys back every year to keep all our teams looking consistent and sharp on the field.

How can I volunteer?

Thursday, July 31, 2014

We appreciate you question as we are a 100% volunteer run organization.

Jobs range from 1-2 hours per season helping organize photo day to a few hours per week coaching a team.

No matter how much time you have to spare our volunteer coordinator can help find something you will enjoy and give back to the club at the same time.

Check out our volunteer pages too (coming soon!)

I am interested in registering my 7 year old, born 2007, but would like to know the practice schedule to see if it can work with my schedule.

Tuesday, September 2, 2014

U8 players (birth year 2007) will have one practice per week and one game per week. Practice times are set by the coach but will generally be Monday through Thursday and be done before 7pm. These are at the Killarney Oval. Games are always on Saturday morning at the Killarney Oval, usually about 11 am.

Emails from KYSA are always marked SPAM or JUNK, how can I fix this?

Monday, September 15, 2014

You can allow mail from specific email addresses to safely come into your inbox without it being placed in your junk or spam folder by whitelisting email addresses within your email client or Internet security software and adding email addresses to a safe senders list.

Please add mailer@rampmx.com to your safe sender lists.

Each program has different steps in order to do this. We found a quick summary of many common email software at:

Do you have to try out for the team or do you just get put on the team automatically when you register, and what if you're trying out with your friends can you be put on the same team if requested?

Thursday, April 2, 2015

This depends on the age group. We recommend people try to make the assessments but we also try to ensure that every player is placed on a team that matches their skills and level of interest. If you can't make the assessment then the coaches will do your assessment at a practice in early September to ensure you are on the correct team. No matter what we recommend you register early to help ensure you are placed on a team.

What days are the games usually for the fall season.

Wednesday, April 22, 2015

Players in age U6 - U9 always play on Saturday, typically in the morning. Once the teams reach the divisional level (U11 and older), boys continue to play on Saturday while girls' games are played on Sunday. The youngest teams (U6/7) will only play at the Killarney Oval and, as the teams get older they will travel within Vancouver to play against other clubs. As you reach U12 and older, travel for games is somewhat further but almost always in the Lower Mainland and Metro Vancouver.

What kind of cleats do you need? Turf, indoor, or just regular outdoor cleats

Tuesday, April 28, 2015

Regular outdoor soccer boots (cleats) are the best for most teams' practice and play surfaces. As the teams get older (U14 and up) some players prefer turf shoes for games and practices.

What is Proof of Age (POA)?

Wednesday, June 10, 2015

All U10 and older players as well as any new players to VYSA or players who have not played for 2 years MUST provide a Proof of Age. This can be a birth certificate, passport, citizenship or landed immigrant papers (must be in English or translated). POA documents are treated confidentially and only used by the club Registrar to assign a BC Soccer ID. You can provide your POA via our RAMP online registration system.
